Definition
An abductor muscle is one that moves a body part away from the midline of the body. Think of it as "abducting" or taking away from the center. A simple example is raising your arm to the side; that's your abductor muscle working. Similarly, spreading your fingers apart uses your finger abductors. These muscles are essential for a wide range of movements, from walking to waving 👋. Without them, you'd be stuck in a very limited range of motion. They're the reason you can do jumping jacks!
