The American Kestrel is the smallest falcon in North America, about the size of a robin. Think of it as the tiny but mighty member of the falcon family. They are colorful, with males having blue-gray wings and reddish-brown backs, while females have reddish-brown wings and backs. These kestrels are adaptable hunters, preying on insects, small rodents, and birds. They are often seen perched on wires or hovering above fields, waiting for their next meal. They are an important part of North American ecosystems.
