Definition
Bacteroidal describes something resembling a bacteroid, which is a modified bacterial cell found in the root nodules of certain plants, especially legumes. These bacteria, often from the genus *Rhizobium*, have a symbiotic relationship with the plant. They convert atmospheric nitrogen into a form the plant can use, and in return, the plant provides the bacteria with nutrients and a safe environment. The term 'bacteroidal' can refer to the shape or structure of these modified bacterial cells or to anything related to them. 🌱
