Definition
A 'bat boy' is a person who works with a baseball team to retrieve bats, balls, and other equipment during games and practices. Often a teenager, he/she assists players and coaches, fetching equipment, and keeping the dugout tidy. They are vital for game flow, ensuring players have what they need quickly. Bat boys get a behind-the-scenes experience of professional baseball. They are essentially the go-fers of the baseball world. Unlike players, they're not competing on the field.
