A bathyscaph is simply a shortened version of "bathyscaphe," referring to the same type of deep-diving submersible. It's designed for exploring the deepest parts of the ocean. Think of it as a specialized elevator that takes you to the bottom of the sea. Unlike a regular submarine, a bathyscaph doesn't rely on a surface vessel for support. It's self-propelled and built to withstand extreme pressure. This allows scientists to study marine life and geological features at incredible depths.
