Definition
The birth canal is the passageway through which a baby passes during childbirth ๐คฐ. It consists mainly of the vagina and the lower part of the uterus (cervix). Think of it as a tunnel or pathway that the baby travels through to enter the world ๐ถ. It's a flexible and expandable structure designed to accommodate the baby's passage. Hormones cause the tissues to soften and stretch during labor, facilitating delivery. The birth canal is a kind of 'exit route' enabling new life to enter the world.
