Definition
A Bluetick Coonhound, often simply called a Bluetick, is a breed known for its distinctive blue-ticked coat pattern and powerful baying voice. Originating in the United States, these dogs were bred to hunt raccoons and other game animals. Blueticks are characterized by their stamina, determination, and keen sense of smell. Unlike some other hounds, Blueticks are known for their ability to 'tree' their prey, meaning they chase the animal up a tree and then alert the hunter with their distinctive bay. Think of them as the rugged outdoorsmen of the dog world, always ready for a hunt.
