Definition
A bodily cavity is a hollow space within the human body that contains and protects organs. These cavities are like internal compartments that organize and safeguard our vital systems. Major cavities include the cranial cavity (housing the brain), the thoracic cavity (containing the heart and lungs), and the abdominal cavity (holding the stomach, intestines, liver, etc.). These cavities are lined with membranes that help cushion and support the organs. They allow organs to move and expand as needed.
