Bokmål (also spelled Bokmaal) is one of the two official written standards of the Norwegian language. It's derived from Danish, which was the administrative language during the union of Denmark and Norway. Think of it as the more urban and common form of Norwegian writing. It's used by a majority of Norwegians and taught in schools. Unlike its counterpart, Nynorsk, Bokmål leans heavily on Danish influence. It's like the standard version of Norwegian you'd find in newspapers and mainstream books. ✍️🇳🇴
