A bootstrap is a loop of material at the top rear of a boot that helps in pulling it on. Also, "bootstrap" means to improve your situation by your own efforts. 🥾 In computing, "bootstrapping" refers to starting up a computer from a minimal initial state. It's a self-starting process. Think of it as lifting yourself up by your own bootstraps (literally!). The term now often refers to self-reliance and resourcefulness.
