A "C-ration" refers to a type of individual combat ration formerly used by the United States military. Unlike modern MREs (Meals, Ready-to-Eat), C-rations often came in cans and required a can opener. Think of them as the survival food soldiers ate during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. They weren't exactly gourmet meals ๐ , but they kept troops going. Often, soldiers would trade items from their C-rations with each other to get the things they liked, like trading crackers for chocolate.
