A cacomistle (*Bassariscus sumichrasti*) is a mammal native to Central America and parts of Mexico. It's related to the ringtail and belongs to the family Bassariscidae. These animals are slender and agile, with a long, bushy tail. Cacomistles are nocturnal and arboreal, spending most of their time in trees. They're opportunistic omnivores, feeding on insects, small mammals, and fruits. Think of them as the elusive cousins of raccoons and ringtails 🐾, rarely seen but fascinating.
