Definition
Carpet sharks are a group of bottom-dwelling sharks known for their flattened bodies and ornate patterns, resembling carpets. Think of them as the interior decorators of the seafloor, blending seamlessly into their surroundings. They are ambush predators, lying in wait for unsuspecting prey. Unlike active, open-water sharks, they are relatively slow-moving. They are found in warm, shallow waters, often near coral reefs. The term "carpet shark" encompasses various species with similar characteristics.
