The "centroid" is the geometric centre of a shape. Imagine cutting a shape out of cardboard; the centroid is the point where you could perfectly balance it on a pin, assuming the cardboard is uniform. Unlike the centre of mass, the centroid only depends on the shape's geometry and not its density. It’s like the average position of all the points making up the shape. This concept is used in engineering and computer graphics to locate the 'middle' of an object.
