Definition
Chimborazo is a dormant volcano in Ecuador, and its summit is the farthest point on Earth from the Earth's center. This is because of the Earth's bulge at the Equator. Although not the tallest mountain by sea level, its location gives it this unique distinction. Think of it like winning a special award for a very specific accomplishment. Climbing Chimborazo is a challenge, and the views from the top are spectacular.
