A cittern is a Renaissance-era musical instrument, similar to a guitar or lute, but with a distinctive flat back and wire strings. πΆ Think of it as the ukulele's fancier, older cousin. It produces bright, chiming tones. It was popular for both solo and ensemble performances. Unlike a modern guitar's six strings, citterns often had more. Imagine a medieval band rocking out with these. It's not something you'd see today unless you're at a historical reenactment or a very niche concert.
