The term 'class Taxopsida' is generally outdated and no longer in common usage in modern plant classification. The currently accepted classification places these plants within the class Pinopsida. Historically, 'Taxopsida' was used to group certain conifers, particularly those related to yews (Taxus). Modern classifications, however, reflect updated phylogenetic understanding based on molecular and morphological data. Therefore, while you might encounter the term in older texts, it's important to know the current preferred terminology.
