Definition
A comb jelly is a marine invertebrate belonging to the phylum Ctenophora. These gelatinous animals are characterized by rows of cilia (comb-plates) used for swimming. They are found throughout the world's oceans. They are predators, feeding on plankton and other small organisms. Picture them as translucent, shimmering creatures drifting through the water. They are not jellyfish, and most don't sting, but use sticky cells to catch food.
