Definition
A decile divides a dataset into ten equal parts. Imagine lining up all the students in your school from shortest to tallest and then splitting them into ten groups; each group represents a decile. ➗ The first decile contains the bottom 10%, the second decile contains the next 10%, and so on. Deciles are used to understand the distribution of data and identify where specific values fall within that distribution. They are useful for comparing performance or characteristics across different groups. For example, in economics, deciles can be used to examine income inequality.
