Definition
Donatism was a schismatic Christian movement in North Africa during the 4th and 5th centuries. Donatists believed that the validity of sacraments depended on the moral character of the priest administering them. If a priest had compromised during times of persecution, any sacraments he performed were considered invalid. This created a major division within the North African church. Think of it as the ecclesiastical version of 'cancel culture.' They're judging based on past actions. 😬 Augustine opposed Donatism.
