Definition
Dugongidae is the family of marine mammals that includes dugongs and the extinct Steller's sea cow. These herbivores are found in warm coastal waters of the Indo-Pacific region. They are characterized by their cylindrical bodies, paddle-like flippers, and distinctive down-turned snouts used for grazing. Unlike manatees, dugongs have a fluke-like tail similar to dolphins. They are important members of their ecosystems. They're like the less cuddly cousins of manatees. ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ
