Definition
An epigone is a follower or imitator of a distinguished person or idea. Often, it carries a connotation of being less original or less talented than the person they are imitating. An epigone essentially continues a tradition or style but lacks the innovation or genius of the original. Think of them as a second-generation artist or thinker who echoes the ideas of their predecessor. They emulate but lack a spark of creativity. They frequently lack innovation.
