Definition
The first harmonic, also known as the fundamental frequency, is the lowest frequency in a periodic waveform. It's the primary pitch that we perceive when we hear a sound. All other frequencies present in the sound, called overtones or harmonics, are multiples of the first harmonic. Think of it as the root note in a chord. Without it, the sound would lose its basic identity. Itβs the foundation upon which richer, more complex sounds are built. πΆ
