Definition
A "fishing eagle" is a general term for any eagle species that primarily feeds on fish. Several eagle species, including the bald eagle and various sea eagles (genus Haliaeetus), fall into this category. These eagles have evolved adaptations that enable them to efficiently hunt fish, such as sharp talons and keen eyesight. They inhabit areas near bodies of water, where they can easily access their primary food source. Their presence indicates a healthy aquatic ecosystem.
