Definition
A gable roof is a roof consisting of two sloping sides that meet at a ridge, forming a gable at each end. It's a classic roof shape seen on many houses. Think of it as an 'A' shape sitting on top of a building. Gable roofs are effective at shedding water and snow. They provide attic space and are relatively simple to construct. Unlike a flat roof, a gable roof is sloped and creates a triangular gable end.
