Definition
Green peafowl (Pavo muticus) are a distinct species of peafowl, recognized by their shimmering green and bronze plumage. They are native to Southeast Asia. Both males and females have similar iridescent green feathers, though the male's train is more elaborate. Green peafowl are less common than Indian peafowl and are considered endangered. They face threats due to habitat loss and hunting. Think of them as the rarer, more elusive cousins of the blue peafowl.
