Definition
Hamamelidae is an outdated botanical name for a group of flowering plants. This group was used in older classification systems to categorize plants with reduced or absent petals and catkin-like inflorescences (clusters of flowers). Think of them as the understated, minimalist relatives of showier flowers. Newer classification systems, based on genetic analysis, have largely replaced this grouping. Therefore, it's more of a historical term in botany now.
