A hanging fly is an insect in the family Bittacidae, a type of scorpionfly (Mecoptera). 🕷️ They're known for their unique hunting strategy: they hang from vegetation using their long, slender legs and wait to ambush unsuspecting prey. They resemble crane flies but are predatory, unlike most crane flies. Hangingflies capture other small insects, using their front legs to snatch them out of the air. Think of them as aerial hunters with a patient strategy.
