Jaroslav Heyrovský (1890-1967) was a Czech chemist and inventor. He is best known for inventing the polarograph, an instrument used for electrochemical analysis. Think of him as the pioneer of modern electrochemistry. He opened up a whole new world of chemical analysis. He won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1959.
