Indian Pipe (Monotropa uniflora) is a fascinating plant that lacks chlorophyll and appears ghostly white. It's a myco-heterotroph, meaning it gets its nutrients from fungi connected to tree roots instead of directly from the sun. Its translucent, waxy stem and nodding flower resemble a pipe, hence the name. These plants are often found in dark, undisturbed forests. They emerge from the forest floor like pale apparitions. Indian Pipes exemplify the incredible diversity of plant adaptations.
