Definition
Indriidae is a family of lemurs found exclusively on the island of Madagascar. These lemurs are known for their diverse sizes and behaviors, ranging from the large indri to the smaller sifakas and avahis. They are all arboreal, meaning they live primarily in trees. Communication within the family varies but often includes vocalizations and scent marking. Sadly, many species within Indriidae are threatened due to habitat loss and hunting. They represent a unique branch of primate evolution.
