Definition
An infielder is a baseball or softball player who plays one of the positions closest to the infield: first base, second base, third base, or shortstop. They are responsible for fielding ground balls and making quick throws to other bases. They require excellent reflexes and coordination. Unlike outfielders, they need to react quickly to sharply hit balls. The infielder is a key part of the team's defense. It's like being a defender in soccer, stopping the opposing team from scoring.
