Definition
Jungle fowl are a group of wild birds belonging to the genus Gallus, found in Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent. The most well-known is the red jungle fowl ('Gallus gallus'), the ancestor of domestic chickens. Think of them as the wild cousins of your farmyard chickens. Theyβre less about laying eggs and more about surviving in the wild. They're like the rugged, untamed version of the domesticated bird.
