Definition
A karyon is simply another word for the cell nucleus, the central and most important part of a cell. It houses the cell's genetic material, or DNA. Think of it as the 'brain' 🧠 inside the cell, controlling its every move. The karyon is responsible for DNA replication and RNA transcription. It directs cell growth, metabolism, and reproduction. Essentially, the karyon dictates what the cell does and how it behaves.
