"Lamellicornia" is an older taxonomic grouping that once included beetles characterized by having antennae with lamellate, or plate-like, clubs. These clubs can open and close like a fan. Think of them as the beetles with fancy, foldable antennae. This group historically included families like Scarabaeidae (scarab beetles) and Lucanidae (stag beetles). While no longer a formal taxonomic rank, the term is still sometimes used to describe beetles with this type of antennae. It represents a fascinating example of how classification systems evolve. 🐜
