Lividity, similar to lividness, refers to the purplish or bluish discoloration of the skin, particularly noticeable in cases of bruising or, medically, after death (postmortem lividity or livor mortis). It indicates a pooling of blood due to gravity and lack of circulation. Think of it as the body's way of showing where blood has settled when it's no longer being pumped around. Unlike a healthy flush, lividity is a sign of physical trauma or the absence of life. It's not something you'd ever want to see in a fashion magazine! 😬
