A long bone is a type of bone that's longer than it is wide. Its main job is to support weight and facilitate movement. Think of the bones in your arms and legs: the femur (thigh bone), tibia (shin bone), humerus (upper arm bone), and radius/ulna (forearm bones). Unlike short bones (like those in your wrist), long bones have a shaft (diaphysis) and two ends (epiphyses). They're filled with bone marrow, which produces blood cells. They act as levers for muscles to pull on, allowing you to run, jump, and wave your arms! 👋
