Definition
"Mandibula" is the Latin term for the mandible, or lower jaw. It's the bone that holds the lower teeth and enables chewing and speech. Think of it as the movable foundation of the lower face. Unlike the *maxilla* (upper jaw), the *mandibula* is capable of movement. It connects to the skull at the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Its primary function is to facilitate mastication (chewing) and articulation (speech).
