Definition
A meerkat is a small, burrowing mammal belonging to the mongoose family. They are known for their social behavior and live in groups called 'mobs' or 'gangs.' Meerkats are native to southern Africa and are well-adapted to arid environments. They have dark patches around their eyes which help reduce glare from the sun. One meerkat always stands guard while the others forage for food. These sentinels keep watch for predators like eagles and jackals. 🏜️
