Definition
A night lizard is any member of the family Xantusiidae. These lizards are small, secretive, and typically active at night or during twilight. They have flattened bodies and granular scales, helping them to blend into their rocky or wooded habitats. Night lizards are found in southwestern North America, Central America, and Cuba. Think of them as the spies of the reptile world, always lurking in the shadows and observing their surroundings. They are the nocturnal navigators of the reptile kingdom.
