Definition
A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea. Nouns can be concrete (something you can touch, like a table) or abstract (an idea, like freedom). They function as the subject or object of a verb. Nouns are fundamental to constructing sentences and expressing meaning. They're the building blocks that identify who or what we're talking about. Nouns are absolutely essential; without them, we couldn't name anything!
