Definition
Odd-pinnate, also known as imparipinnate, describes a compound leaf with leaflets arranged along a central stem, terminating in a single leaflet at the tip. Think of a feather where the final barb is centered, not paired. This contrasts with even-pinnate leaves, which end in a pair. It adds a sense of completeness to the leaf structure. Imagine setting a table with an odd number of place settings on each side plus one at the head.
