Definition
Order Dermoptera refers to a small group of gliding mammals commonly known as colugos or flying lemurs. Despite their name, they are not true lemurs and cannot actually fly. Instead, they possess a large membrane of skin that stretches between their limbs, allowing them to glide from tree to tree. These nocturnal creatures are found in Southeast Asia. Imagine them as squirrels with extreme gliding capabilities. They are unique in their ability to cover significant distances aerially without flapping wings.
