Definition
Ostryopsis is a small genus of deciduous shrubs, closely related to the hop-hornbeams (Ostrya). Found primarily in China, these shrubs are smaller than their tree-like relatives. They are characterized by their similar hop-like fruits. Think of Ostryopsis as the more petite and demure cousin of the hop-hornbeam. Unlike its taller relatives, this shrub offers a touch of delicate beauty to woodland gardens.
