Definition
The pancake turtle, *Malacochersus tornieri*, is a unique species known for its exceptionally flat and flexible shell. Unlike other turtles, its shell is thin and pliable, allowing it to wedge itself into rock crevices. They are found in East Africa, primarily in Kenya and Tanzania. These turtles are herbivores, feeding on grasses and plants. Their unusual shell offers protection from predators, making them masters of hide-and-seek in the rocky terrain.
