A "pantryman" (or pantrymaid, if female) is a household worker responsible for the pantry, which is a room or cupboard where food and dishes are stored. Their duties include stocking the pantry, preparing simple meals, cleaning silverware, and maintaining the cleanliness of the pantry. Think of them as the guardians of the kitchen's supplies. Unlike a chef, a pantryman's responsibilities are more focused on organization and maintenance.
