A parhelic ring is essentially the same thing as a parhelic circle: a horizontal ring of light at the same altitude as the sun.☀️ The term 'ring' is used interchangeably with 'circle' in this context. It's caused by the reflection and refraction of sunlight through ice crystals in the atmosphere. Imagine looking at the sun through a giant ice crystal kaleidoscope! The ring is typically white, but it can sometimes show faint colors. Though less common than a regular solar halo, it is still a fascinating atmospheric phenomenon.
