Pearl-fish, alternatively spelled pearlfish, refers to members of the Carapidae family. These creatures exhibit a peculiar lifestyle, choosing to dwell within other marine invertebrates. Some are parasitic, like the mean girls who always borrow your clothes without asking. Others are commensal, simply seeking refuge. Their bodies are often slender and almost see-through, like a ghost in the ocean. They are masters of disguise and adaptation, fitting into their hosts with remarkable ease. Despite the name, they don't exclusively live in pearls.
