Definition
The polar circles (Arctic and Antarctic) are imaginary lines on Earth that mark the latitude beyond which there are days with 24 hours of daylight or darkness. It's a line of latitude around the Arctic and Antarctic, beyond which the sun doesn't set on the summer solstice or rise on the winter solstice. Think of them as the boundaries of extreme daylight and darkness. The Arctic Circle is at approximately 66.5 degrees North latitude. The Antarctic Circle is at approximately 66.5 degrees South latitude. They define the polar regions.
