Definition
A probe is an exploratory device or investigation designed to gather information about something unknown. It can be a physical tool, like a sensor sent into space, or a more abstract inquiry, like a journalist's investigation. Unlike a direct observation, a probe explores something that is difficult or impossible to access directly. For instance, a space probe might be sent to Mars to analyze the planet's surface. Or, a doctor might use a medical probe to examine an internal organ. The goal of a probe is to uncover hidden information and expand our understanding.
